Aquaculture, freshwater, and marine fisheries supply about 10% of the world's human calorie intake. This may seem small but considering how large the human population is that is a lot of marine food. This biome produces most of the seafood we eat by using large boats and hauling out nets to capture tonnes and tonnes of fish and other marine foods.
Because we fish so much in many parts of the world and touch many places in the ocean biome we have destroyed many areas in which we label 'dead zones'. These zones have periodically starved of oxygen and contain minim amount of life if not any. Because of over fishing we have brought forth the extinction and on the brink of extinction to many fish and marine flora and fauna.
For example the Great Barrier Reef is under threat due several factors which in some way go back to humans. Because of our extensive fishing we have limited the number of fish we catch and in the process are destroying many ocean biomes and marine-life species.
